Rating - - - - -

The rating for this group is 16+, mainly due to darker themes and future deaths. This can include vulgar language or gore. However, this does not mean that you have to be 16 to apply. Beloved NPCs may die, and so may OCs in order to keep the darker themes alive (however only at the discretion of the RPer/owner.) We will never kill off an OC without permission or prior knowledge/discussion.

Age will not be a variable in the application process (we will not ask for you age.) It's also a warning for those interested!

Also, decisions made by OCs can greatly affect the flow of events, therefore giving you the ability to change what was originally intended.

General Rules - - - - -

Respect others.
Do not offend or slander anyone else, be as it may art style, gender, anything. If you have issues with a member, please take it to the mods instead of spreading it to others in order to avoid further drama. Do not force them to do things that they originally did not want to do. Really, it’s a relatively simple rule.

Respect mods.
Understand that the mods are humans as well and are completely capable of making mistakes. If you have an issue, please speak to us or else we would never know.

Questions?
As a member, there will be a questions and/or concerns channel within the Discord server, If it is a question that could benefit the rest of the members, then post them here. If the question or concern is more personal, please note the group. Do not privately message the mods, please! Questions will normally be discussed with the entire mod team.

OOC Rules - - - - -

Leaving the group.
Please inform us beforehand if you are planning on leaving the group.

Activity.
Since this group is so plot-based, activity is a large portion of it. Please note the group if you are planning on having a hiatus, so that we do not penalize you in the future.

Roleplaying Rules.
Do not god mod. Especially in events. Make sure to discuss with your partners whether or not an action you choose to make concerning an OC that is not yours is okay. “Puppeting” is okay, however make sure that you have permission.

Keep all 18+ personal.
Don’t bring them in the public chat. Not everyone is comfortable with it. Fluff is completely fine, but do not force it upon another person if they are not okay with it. NSFW roleplays will not be eligible to be handed in for a reward. Tasteful nudity in art is completely okay, however please censor your art accordingly, making sure to follow deviantArt’s guidelines as well.

IC Rules - - - - -

These rules may change depending on location.

Hide your mark.
Shall anyone bear witness to your Mark of the Crusade, you will be convicted of a crime. Beware.

Do not go beyond the five isles.
Unforgiving seas will meet you, therefore shrouding you in your untimely death. There is nothing else beyond Clanclia. No one goes far from the five islands without dying. Be warned.

Violent or forbidden Cardoritum is not allowed.
Do not showcase this in public, or where others can see you. You will be punished.

Do not tell anyone about the Academy of Insoliq.
This is the top rule of attending the academy, should you not obey or show signs of not following, you will disappear from the face of the Isles.

FAQ

How will events be done?

Events will be run and organized through Google Docs! This is due to ease of organization.

What to Expect.

This group was created in hopes for a pleasant mixture of fantasy and magical themes. Be warned that this will not be your average magic-school role-play group. Locations will change often, and events will be incredibly plot-based, especially at the beginning of the plot. Members are encouraged to participate and help in world-building, creating a fun and welcoming group of people that are interested in story-telling!

Why is there only one species? Or limited Cardoritum?

While the choices may seem barren, this is only because of future events that will unlock other types of species and Cardoritum!

How long did it take to prepare this group?

Planning for this group has begun since around the latter half of 2016. This includes future plot events and storylines! There’s a lot of stuff in store.

Please comment on this journal, or other journals, should you have any questions about the group! Former questions that have already been asked will be noted in our FAQ master-list   (which includes answers from the Discord server, as well!)

III. Cardoritum

5 min read

Propheta Cardoritum - - - - -

Cardoritum is the tool used by the citizens of Clanclia for their everyday usage. Formerly used in combat and violence, it is now used for more practical day-to-day chores such as Nystocrypha levitation to clean dishes or Bioniveria to create a fire for the stove. In order to have peace and equality within the islands.

Nystocrypha

Nystocrypha is the phenomenon of the unexplainable by Propheta intelligence - The only type of Nystocrypha magic that is truly taught is an extremely weak version of levitation. In actuality, it is the manipulation of time and space leaving the ability to understand it nearly impossible. Within the treaty, all other types of Nystocrypha besides basic levitation are extremely forbidden. The only way to control more potent and stronger Nystocrypha types, students must have private, illegal tutors or attend the Academy of Insoliq.

Bioniveria

Bioniveria is the basic understanding of natural occurrence – such as wielding the winds, waters, fires, and life forces of nature. The first three elements are more common, however the latter is the least prevalent due to the difficulty of learning it. Students are only allowed to learn basic Bioniveria. Healing Cardoritum is prohibited, as the treaty sees that they suggest the need to heal others in a time of battle or war; proper health can still be maintained without the use of Cardoritum using things such as potions, herbs, etc.

Meloriv

Meloriv is the ability to turn a the likeness of the soul into a weapon. Formerly the most popular type of offensive Cardoritum, Meloriv users were commonplace during Millennium's Crusade. However, due to their violent natures, all users were sent to death to place a complete end to such brutality. That is, that is how the government of Veminsce intended it to be. Students within the Academy of Insoliq often study the natures of Meloriv, causing nearly all of them to be able to transform into the likeness of their own soul.

Meloriv Reluo is the binding of two souls, turning one soul into an Imaeus and the other into an Arbiteus. The binding ritual is a strange and painful event for both, thus allowing the newly-made Imaeus to turn into the weapon illustrated by their soul. After the soul-binding of two beings, they are no longer separable and will die if their partner dies as well. Meloriv Reluo only occurs once the two are proven as impressive Meloriv users. Those who are not binded but still study Meloriv Cardoritum, do not have the ability to transform their entire body into their weapon. Rather, they can only transform a part of their body into one.

Affinities
While students can only learn the Cardoritum detailed above, it is natural for an individual to be attuned to a specific area. For example, a student may be more skilled at Meloriv and Nystocrypha, but fail to successfully manipulate the natural lifeforces of Bioniveria. A person may also be extremely skilled at just one form of Cardoritum and be awful at the other two, however it is extremely difficult and nearly impossible to be naturally attuned to all three.

Undisclosed Cardoritum - - - - -

There are many things to be discovered . . .

Propheta - - - - -

The propheta, or more commonly known as ‘the magicians’, or ‘the prophets’ are the native peoples of Clanclia. They are able to harness the celestial power of the world, using it to their advantages. However, after the declaration of peace, violence has become obsolete and no longer necessary.

Undisclosed Species - - - - -

You mean there’s more out there…?

The Isles - - - - -

Veminesce

Veminesce is the third-largest island island – the only place where those from different islands can truly mingle without being at threat. This is where the School of Clanclia is located, normally where the larger businesses are booming. It is the most populated island, with friendly stone pavements and benevolent strangers with wooden wagons nod a kind hello at you as they pass by. Grand stone buildings tower overhead, coned rooftops reaching to the bright blue skies.

Outside of the main city, there are lavish fields and meadows of green, small patches and areas where livestock flourish. A couple small towns dot the countryside, however the majority of the citizens still live in the bustling main city.

Alcyre

Alcyre is more quaint and  in its character with clusters of stone and wood towns separated by flowery valleys with an abundance of rivers and lakes, and patches of forests between them. Life here is peaceful but busy, with everyday tasks being attended to and people providing the goods of their trade with passion in their manner. Not quite as crowded a population as Veminesce, but a dense population all the same.

The people of Alcyre, although plenty of coin currency to go around, also often participate in the pleasantries commerce has to offer. Many people travel from town to town just for such exchanges, and several port towns enjoy the niceties of other isles.

Spiraux
Spiraux is the largest island of Clanclia, covered in fertile soil which is deemed perfect for farmland. Both the second and first Isle come hand in hand – typically Spirausdiu is the main source of sustenance for Veminesce.  Many people live on Spiraux, however through a collection of smaller towns and humble villages with people who find the city life much too busy.

Wiloraj
Considered a collection of astray ruins, this Island used to be filled with religious monks and grand shrines. This peaceful Isle was soon destroyed by the selfish deeds of those who desired power over all – a selfishness greatly disappointing. Covered with lush overgrown plants, the area is now beautifully barren.

In order to pay respects to the holy figures that had formerly resided here, everyone is prohibited from building or living on the sacred grounds. However, plentiful healing herbs and ingredients useful for understanding Cardoritum grow in abundance here, naming Wiloraj as a precious source of health for Clanclia’s citizens.

Insoliq
Insoliq is probably the largest warzone of the five islands – the majority of its terrain now destroyed and homes still barely stand. Although Clanclia is almost always sunny, the aura of this place makes it intensely darker than it seems to be. This island is taboo to many – only seen as a place where thousands have died and nothing else. The damaged areas are nothing except darkened grass and lost weapons embedded in the ground, only a grim reminder of what had happened there. However, in some places you can find nature attempting its regrowth.

Not many people live here, and those that do, do not enjoy it. The majority of those who are native Insoliq eventually move out to Veminesce, and those who don’t have been shut-ins for fifty years. This area is only the haven to families or loners who enjoy the thought of isolation and never having to interact with another human being again.

It is the home of the Academy of Insoliq – an illegal and obscure academy where the violent arts of Cardoritum are truly taught.

Other than barren landscapes, you can find extremely deep ravines and caves… Some already discovered but due to the generally unwelcoming nature of this island a lot of areas are yet to be found and uncovered. Sometimes you can stumble upon former war camps and even mass graves of the lives lose in the Millennium's Crusade… Just be vigilant if you are an outsider.

Caste System.
The system is based upon the damage caused by the Millennium's Crusade. It is obvious that the islands with the least amount of damaged are known to be the wealthiest – resources and land still healthy therefore causing the ability for growth and economy. Wealth and prosperity is based upon the Isle that you come from – those who have ancestry stemming from the First Isle are regarded as incredibly wealthy while those who hail from the Fifth Isle are poor or not as well-off. While the stigma between the caste members are no longer nearly as relevant, elders still may believe in it.

The School of Clanclia - - - - -

Here, you learn basic skills that prepares you for the life of labor that is on your path. This is supposedly the ‘only’ school within the three islands, created and built with clay and marble. The edifice is grand and beautiful and nothing less. The fundamentals of both Bioniveria and Nystocryphia are taught here, as well as mundane talents such as gardening, music, the arts, and more.

The Teachers
Teachers are employed to the school once they graduate, if they wish and commit to the occupation. For a couple years, they are only known as 'mentors' until they are deemed ready enough to teach an actual class. They are to be given the utmost respect, although some students may not abide by this rule. Some instructors may not act so ideal, either.

Ages and grades are sorted into ‘ranks’ which measure your capability in fully understanding the natures and basic skills of Cardoritum.  Children aged five through eight are placed in the First Rank. Those nine through eleven are placed in the second rank. Twelve through fourteen in the third rank. Fifteen through seventeen in the fourth rank. Students enter the fifth and final rank of the School of Clanclia once they are the age of eighteen and pass the test of knowledge. In special cases, some students may have to be held back in order to enter the fifth rank or some students may have been smart enough to skip a year in a rank entirely.

There is a class for any sort of hobby that may pique your interest, but beware of the consequences should your curiosity know no bounds and find regard within subjects normally seen as obscene or prohibited…

The Academy of Insoliq - - - - -

You do not find the Academy of Insoliq. The Academy finds you. Cleverly hidden on the poorest and least popular island of Insoliq, this is the only school that provides teachings for violent combat. As Clanclia’s deepest secret, the only ones allowed to learn here are naturally born for battle and espionage… Based within a hidden ravine and built up of darkened wood and few candles, the edifice is indeed incredibly difficult to find.

The Council
Due to the fact that everyone that attends the Academy of Insoliq also attends the Clanclia Academy, everyone on the Teacher board remains anonymous. There are no guarantees whether or not those part of it are also hidden in the School of Clanclia, and it is more likely that they aren’t due to the fact that that would arise suspicions easily.

All of those in the Council are clever, witty, battleborn, and talented. They are adults of higher power and own superiority – scouting for possible students that may attend the academy. They may be adults who you see every day – or hermits that never see the light of the sun. All of them are kept anonymous.

The Vision
The way in which students are invited to this academy are as subtle as possible. A councilman who has witnessed a potential student for the Academy must act as a sponsor and will have somehow given them a type of mark, incantation, or other mysterious way that will trigger a vision that they will see during slumber.

The Vision will differ from student to student, as brains and minds are unique. However, they all have one underlying parallel – the student will witness the true natures of otherwise undisclosed Cardoritum. Students will be drawn to the mysteriousness of the Academy, therefore initiating them as a secret student. After they witness the Vision, a mark of their true natures will grow on a part of their body – the Mark of the Crusade. It must be hidden.

There is no specific age that they will be given the Mark of the Crusade. They will be given it as young as they are in the First Rank or possibly until they are in the Third Rank.

The Academy

Classes are taught at night to preserve suspicion from witnesses. At night, once a student goes to bed, they experience a sensation alike that of the Vision and manifest themselves in an incorporeal being outside of the body. They take on a whole other form – darker and full of shadows. This form is known as Insoliq’s name and is caused by the Mark of the Crusades. Their sentient body remains where it is, however the mind of the student drifts elsewhere  - feeling a sensation as though it’s being gently pulled by the aura of the academy itself.

Every student and teacher have a different shape and aura surrounding them, keeping their identity sealed while also making them unique. The Names of others vary in shape and size, from fitting in the palm of your hand to being nearly eight feet tall.

This illusion that prevents your ability to discern one being from another to keep the anonymity of those that attend and those that teach. No one knows the identity of anyone else. That is, if you choose to undergo Meloriv Cardoritum with someone you are close with.

The Curriculum
This is the only place where those who wish to be bound by the soul can go through the painful ritual, as the arts of intense and incredible Cardoritum. Healing Bioniviera or deeper philosophical and magical understanding of Nystocrypha is explored as well – allowing students to undergo the learning of such knowledge.

I. Prologue

Welcome - - - - - -

And there, I witnessed, the most beautiful of lies . . .
The five islands of Clanclia have existed and remained on this world since the beginning of time. No one truly knows the origins of it, but it is home. There is nowhere else to go. The citizens do not find it necessary to be anywhere else. Crystal-clear waters surround you and it feels as though you are meant to be nowhere except there. No thunderous storms plague your nights or freezing cold temperatures leave you helpless. Clanclia is perfect in every way. Held together by a flimsy treaty since the disaster of the Millennium's Crusade, the people have attempted peace for fifty years thus far. Secrets lie in between the crevices of walls and underneath floorboards… It is up to you to figure them all out.

Without the distractions of war and violence, citizens of Clanclia have made incredible bounds using Cardoritum within innovation. This is a world that utilizes magic instead of science; Cardoritum the frontlines of brilliance and ingenuity.

And while the people of Clanclia love their humble islands, some cannot help but think:
What else is out there?

Millennium's Crusade - - - - -

A scarlet truth among the whitest of fantasies . . .
The Millennium's Crusade is often regarded as the devastation caused by violence and immaturity called upon by the selfishness of one’s being. No one is sure what exactly had been the catalyst of this war, and even the eldest of the Clanclia can only recall that the War had been there and nothing else before it. And while no one can accurately pinpoint the direct cause of this calamity, there are multiple reasons as to why it lasted as long as it did. Whether it be fighting for power, or land, or anything else, the selfishness of a human being has always been infinitely capable of creating shallow brutality for their own benefits. In an attempt to cover up all history of those dark times, any artifacts or memorabilia connected to the war has been destroyed. The Crusade, in modern times, has been wholly forgotten, and thus become a distant dream.

Where do you come in? - - - - -

There is a stone path - stemming from destiny into oblivion . . .
The School of Clanclia is where you have been able to reside for the past four years of your life. Its white walls and marble columns are like that of a second home. You and your fellow classmates are finally in your fifth and final year of schooling – a life of adulthood and work is ahead of you. Some aim to be farmer or authors. Some do not even know what they aim to be – reaching for a life different that typically expected of those in Clanclia. But rumours of corruption and venality within the Five Isles may endanger your hope of a peaceful life.

Even then, a distant memory still bothers you, never disappearing. Years beforehand, you were also given the choice to attend a dark academy well-hidden within the deep valleys of Insoliq – an island destroyed by Millennium's Crusade therefore rendered as inhabitable by large numbers of citizens. There, you are able to learn the dark arts of Cardoritum… Should you have chosen not to attend, you are not to mention the ecliped academy to anyone. Unless, that is, you wish to vanish from the face of the island.

The School of Clanclia drills into the minds of its youth one main thing: War and violence are intolerable and detestable. There are many ways to prevent it, and the path of pacifism is the most superior and for those of greater intelligence. But not everyone may believe in these ideals…

Fortunately, things seem to be looking up. There is only a few more months of schooling left for you. How will you decide to spend it?
